Exam Overview

The SSC CGL 2024 examination will be conducted in two tiers:

  • Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Qualifying in nature).
  • Tier-II: Includes multiple papers, with Paper I being compulsory for all posts and Paper II for specific positions like Junior Statistical Officer (JSO).

  • Notification Release: June 2024
  • Online Application Period: June 2024 - July 2024
  • Tier-I Exam: September 2024
  • Tier-II Exam: December 2024

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: A bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: Varies by post, generally between 18-32 years. Specific age limits for various posts include:
    • 18-27 years for Auditor, Accountant, Tax Assistant, etc.
    • Up to 30 years for Assistant Section Officer, Assistant Enforcement Officer, etc.
    • Up to 32 years for Junior Statistical Officer.

Application Fee

  • General/OBC: ₹100
  • SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Women: Exempted

Selection Process

The selection process includes two tiers:

  1. Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Qualifying)
  2. Tier-II: Consisting of multiple papers, including:
    • Paper I: Compulsory for all posts
    • Paper II: For candidates applying for the posts of JSO and other specific roles

Tier-II Exam Pattern

Paper I (Compulsory for all posts)

Paper II (For JSO)

  • Focuses on Statistics

Tier-I Syllabus

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, coding-decoding, series, puzzles, etc.
  • General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economics, general science, etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Simplification, interest, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, time and work, etc.
  • English Comprehension: Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, error spotting, etc.

Tier-II Syllabus

Paper I

  • Mathematical Abilities: Algebra, trigonometry, geometry, statistics, data interpretation, etc.
  • Reasoning and General Intelligence: Similar to Tier-I but more advanced.
  • English Language and Comprehension: Advanced grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, etc.
  • General Awareness: Similar to Tier-I with more depth.
  • Computer Knowledge: Basics of computers, MS Office, internet, email, etc.
  • Data Entry Speed Test: Typing test to assess data entry skills.

Paper II (Statistics)

  • Probability, statistics, data interpretation, correlation and regression, etc.

Paper III (Finance and Economics)

  • Basics of finance and accounting, microeconomics, macroeconomics, public finance, etc.
